in my experience, whereas dads tend to troll food service and retail workers for the dads' own amusement, moms troll their kids in order to keep them well-behaved. i.e. "if you keep making that face, it's gonna get stuck like that forever!"
my mom's best mom joke was when she cut my pacifier in half in order to wean me off it but just shrugged and told me "it broke." joke's on her though - i never did learn to stop crying all the time
edit: example of situational dad joke
server (after family has asked for the bill but they haven't finished eating everything): "you wanna box for that?"
dad: "no thanks but i'll wrestle you for it"

Haha... "wrestle you for it"... Told my 3 year old if he didn't take a nap he could go to jail for resisting a rest.
